The Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) was launched by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) of the Government of India on December 31st, 2021. This initiative aims to promote open networks for the exchange of goods and services over digital or electronic networks.
The Government has designed and developed ONDC as a platform rather than an app or service. This platform enables businesses to connect with customers and facilitates the digitalization of their operations.

ONDC has partnered with several online storefronts, such as Paytm, Meesho, Magicpin, Mystore, Craftsvilla, and Spice Money. These partners enable users to order food or other products from businesses listed on the ONDC platform.
ONDC becomes the thread to the market of established e-commerce players such as Flipkart, Amazon, Swiggy, Zomato, and others. especially Foodtech companies as it enables restaurants to directly sell food to consumers without the involvement of third-party services such as Zomato and Swiggy.
The government-supported ONDC has surpassed 10,000 daily orders, aided by initial discounts and the introduction of a cost-effective food delivery system. Although ONDC does not currently live in all cities, not all restaurants are on ONDC.
To order food on ONDC, users must use one of its partner apps like Paytm or Magicpin. Search for it on the Paytm app or Magicpin and order from the ONDC food store.
